Join our Impromptu Make Alongs - Knit or crochet there is a blanket for you!
It's time to go find your stash / yarn oddments and pick out a selection of colours to make a fabulous blanket.
This is an idea that we very much thought up on the spot, hence the name 'Impromptu Make Along'. We wanted to bring everyone together in a virtual way. Whilst we are all staying in and unable to visit our local knit and natter groups, local yarn shops, whatever it is we normally would do, we wanted to share a little something that we can all do together. Crafting is a great mindful practice and at this time it is just what we all need to get lost in a new project. We have decided to share two patterns, one crochet and one knitting so there is something for everyone.
Who remembers our very first CAL with Cherry Heart? The Spice of Life blanket is still as popular today and many people enjoy taking this on as their first crocheted project. Sara has chosen a selection of colours in Stylecraft Special DK to be her chosen shades. These are available as a pack should you wish to join her. She is working at random, just picking out a shade as she goes. As many of you will be using your yarn oddments, there are no rules, use as many shades as you desire! Enjoy playing with colour. On a side note this blanket does look stunning in one single colour, all of those fabulous stitches are emphasised that little bit more.
For the knitters out there, we have something special for you too. Lynne Rowe has kindly allowed us to offer her Knitted Chevron blanket as a free downloadable pattern. It was only ever available as an exclusive with the original colour packs (Knitted Chevron and On Point). Lynne says this is the perfect mindful knit with the stripe repetition. Although this blanket is knitted in chunky yarn, you can adjust your needle size accordingly and use DK or aran. Just be aware that your blanket will come out slightly smaller. Sara has selected some of her favourite shades for this blanket in Stylecraft Special Chunky. Once again, we have put a kit together should you wish to make the same as Sara.
These packs are also great for making any blanket, if you have a favourite stitch why not try that. We hope you can join us with our make alongs.
In the video below Sara explains more about our Impromptu Community Make Alongs. Some of these videos were filmed before the Craft Barn closed.
