Sara's Monthly Project Update - November 2024
Bury Tank Top in Mode Softest Alpaca
I fell in love with Mode Softest Alpaca as soon as I touched it. It’s so soft it’s almost ridiculous. Made from 70% alpaca it is light and airy with a huge 130 metres on each 50g ball. The first thing I made with it was a Kylie beanie. This is a legendary FREE pattern that has been downloaded from our site thousands of times. I soon knew I needed to make something bigger.
Well say hello to Bury, a perfect square shaped tank top with wide shoulders that I’m hoping will fit me. I’ve only spent a few hours with this project so far but I love it. It grows quickly and the yarn is just delicious. I’m using Midnight, a dark navy which can be a bit tricky in the evening. I have to use my PURElite neck light to make sure I don’t skip a stitch. Only the side seams to sew up now.
Dalton Sweater in Rowan Felted Tweed & Alpaca Classic
I love making this. The stitch pattern is so clever, incredibly simple but so effective. You feel like you are doing something really special. Plus it uses Rowan Felted Tweed which is always a favourite of mine. It gives beautiful stitches and fabric.
The front and back are finished and I’m knitting the sleeves two at a time so hopefully I’m on the homeward straight now.
Tank Top in Stylecraft Grace Aran & Impressions
This has been one of our best-selling patterns this season. A strand of the beautiful Stylecraft Grace Aran (Hot Pink) and one of Stylecraft Impressions (Renoir). The two yarns blend together so well and it knits up really quickly. The pattern is simple and beautifully explained, perfect for a beginner knit.
However, mine does seem to have been on the needles forever. I keep getting distracted by new things. I finally cast it off last night so it’s just been pinned out and sprayed.
Stylecraft Softie Hat
This is a great FREE hat pattern and so easy and quick to make. You can whip one up in a night. I made a few of these in September to display at Yarndale. Topped with a Trimits pom pom it’s the perfect winter warmer.
Tin Can Knits Flax Sweater in James C Brett Croftland Aran
Yes I know what you are thinking, no I haven’t finished it yet. I’m still on the sleeves. I’m sure if I concentrated I could finish it in a few days. Maybe this will be the month!

Dynasty Scarf
This is my latest obsession - the Dynasty scarf, I have made silver, gold, green, rust and started a blue. Knitted in Lang Glamour, I love it! A simple two row pattern that creates an effective scarf. Easy to wear in a luxury yarn, it’s just perfect!
