Week 2 New Lane - A Day Out Knit Along Blanket by Sarah Hatton - How to knit mosaic stitch

It's time for week 2 of A Day Out knit along blanket. Block 2 is a mosaic stitch. Mosaic? Knitting? Sounds and looks much more tricky and complicated than it actually is. It's a very clever method of slipping stitches and only working with one colour at a time, which in turn creates this wonderful stitch pattern designed by Sarah Hatton.

This week you have got 8 squares to knit. Once you have found your rhythm, you will glide through the stitch repeats and be casting off your eighth square before you know it. Don't feel like you have to rush your knitting to stay ahead, work through the blanket at your own pace and savour those stitches. If you are learning this stitch for the first time or dusting off the cobwebs there's no rush, knitting is a hobby to enjoy.

Read Sara's hints and tips for week 2 before you begin. She's got lots of good advice on knitting the perfect mosaic square.

Lynne Rowe is here to help understand the mosaic stitch, in the video for Week 2. Lynne's soothing voice will guide you along the pattern stitch by stitch. Watch it here on our YouTube channel.
