Fair Isle and Bead Purse Knitting Workshop with tutor, Debbie Abrahams

Friday 11th July 2025 | 10.15am - 4.15pm

This course is suitable for knitters who can already knit and follow a basic knitting pattern but want to practice the techniques of fairisle and hooked-in beads. Working on a small project inspired by Debbie’s 2021 Mystery Blanket, ‘1001 Nights’ and using Rowan yarns and Debbie’s self-branded DK yarn, you will learn how to master both of these techniques.

The following techniques will be covered:

  • how to read a fairisle and bead chart
  • the stranding technique on right-side and wrong-side rows
  • the weaving-in technique on right-side and wrong-side rows
  • how to stop your yarns from tangling
  • the hooking-in beading technique (crochet hook and floss methods)

You will need to bring knitting needle sizes 3.75mm (UK 9) 3.50mm (UK n/a) and 2.75mm (UK 12), small crochet hook, 0.6mm or 0.75mm OR Oral B Superfloss (if you don’t have this, don’t worry, Debbie will bring some with her), hi-lighter pen, Post-It notes or Washi tape for marking off the chart rows, notebook and pencil

There are 10 places on this workshop.
