Professional Finishing Knitting Workshop with tutor, Debbie Tomkies
Saturday 3rd May 2025 | 10.15am - 4.15pm
Have you ever finished a project only to put it back in the cupboard whenever you’re thinking of wearing it because it just doesn’t feel ‘right’? We’ve all been there!
Puckered seams, gappy necklines, lumpy shoulders and wavy edgings are all common problems that can be resolved with a few simple tips and techniques. Debbie will be showing you these techniques and how to make your knits runway ready!
What you will learn:
- Creating great seams using mattress stitch
- Joining shoulder seams for a smooth finish
- Picking up stitches for tidy edgings
- Neat necklines
- Choosing the right cast on and cast off
- Throughout the day Debbie will also be sharing a wide range of tips and techniques for making up garments to make every knit a project to be proud of.
A little homework is required for this workshop which is outlined in the pdf information sent to you with your booking confirmation. These swatches can be knitted using any DK oddments.
You will need to bring your knitting essentials – A pair of 4mm knitting needles, a bodkin/knitters/tapestry needle for sewing up, stitch markers, stitch holder, scissors.
Debbie loves to teach and has been a knitter and designer for over 30 years. She has been the Knit Now resident expert for 10 years and is the author of 6 internationally published knitting books so you’ll be in good hands! Debbie’s sessions are fun and enjoyable. The pace is relaxed and there is plenty of time to ask questions and chat.
There are 10 places on this workshop.
What's Included?
- Yarn, refreshments and lunch will be provided on the day.
- A special 10% discount is also included. This can be used once in store, exclusions include workshops, gift cards, tea shop and colour packs.
- Once purchased you will receive confirmation and more information via email.
N.B. Sometimes due to circumstances beyond our control workshops and events may be cancelled. At which point the cost of your workshop will be fully refunded. We cannot be held liable for any travel costs incurred.
